Your Voice: Day One & Beyond
Rooted in the pillars of education, empowerment, and action, Your Voice: Day One & Beyond equips students with the knowledge, confidence, and resources they need to safely and successfully navigate their new environment.
The First 90 Days
Your voice matters from day one at WVU and you have an essential role in creating a safer campus community. The first 90 days on a college campus are an incredible time for students: You have a heightened sense of responsibility and independence, the chance to engage with peers in new communities and the opportunity to start making the vision you have of your future into reality through your academic career.
The Your Voice: Day One & Beyond campaign helps strengthen this voice by sharing and teaching about our safety resources, the various support services available on and around campus, how to recognize when someone is not safe and how to intervene as a bystander.
Phase 1: Awareness and Rights
Days 1-30
Phase 1 lays the groundwork for you to have a fun and safe experience while at WVU, introducing essential resources and support services that strengthen your ability to be an active bystander. By educating each other on rights, responsibilities, and responses to situations we may find ourselves in, we can build a campus environment where everyone feels welcome and respected.
Phase 2: Connection and Belonging
Days 31-60
By this point you’re going to know who to turn to when needed, but what about when they’re not needed? Spark new connections by plugging in campus events and programming through social events, self-care workshops, partner spotlights, and story-sharing, Phase 2 advances your passions and charges your sense of Mountaineer Pride.
Phase 3: Empowerment and Advocacy
Days 61-90
You’re making it through midterms, celebrating our fall sports teams, and gearing up for the last month of the semester: Time to activate your potential and become the advocate you’re destined to be. Phase 3 equips you with the tools, skills, and platform to strengthen your leadership and revolutionize your community.
